A meticulous and arduous study on the Proto-Indo-European language has been carried out by the West for centuries. Therefore, when you want to get an idea about a dialect belonging to this family (French, English, Latin, etc.), you will come across a lot of origin explanations even with a small Google search. Naturally, the West reaps the fruits of its efforts, what about us?

The number of people in Turkey who would go out of their way to delve into the history of their own language can be counted on the fingers of one hand. Moreover, although there were great Turcologists in the last century, the majority of them were Russians, not Turks. The amount of works published thanks to them is certain, but it is still not very encouraging.

We do not even have satisfactory knowledge about the Proto language, which precedes Old Turkish, and we have not yet created the data collection that will enable this. People talk about Altai, Ural-Altay, but what evidence do we have to support these families? It’s all hypothetical and our past is completely hazy. To make a long story short, no one is taking responsibility and we want to do something.

r/philology; In general terms, it is a community in which we delve into Turkish in the field of linguistics, analyze it, and suggest Turkish equivalents to words of foreign origin in the light of the information we obtain in this way.

Some of us have a little knowledge about etymology, some of us about history; Some of us joined us out of pure curiosity. We are waiting for you too 🙂
