What’s the story with The Ambassador theatre in Dublin ?
Why is The Ambassador on o’connell not used for events anymore ,? could they not reopen it as a concert venue or even a cinema again , seems such a waste
What a venue. Easy to get to, fun to leave – buzz was great, and you were surrounded by good pubs and relatively easy routes home.
Showing my age now I suppose, but the “NME Tour” shows there with CSS and Klaxons were absolutely fantastic. Desperate pity it’s been left languishing a bit.

Think I saw Queens of the stone age there in 2002. Good gig just before they’d play in big venues exclusively.

Saw Machine Head in there on Halloween night in 2003, I think it was. They played completely dressed up. Was a fucking brilliant gig.

Saw Ian Brown there, great gig but unfortunately the rest of the band were playing in a different key to Ian for most of the night.

It was taken over by a pack of rabid cats. Best to avoid.
Such a shame. It was a cracking venue. Saw the Manic Street Preachers in there many years ago.
Loved it, head over the road to Fibbers after and handy enough for a taxi or bus home.
Re-opening soon as an exhibition space. Owners want to put up a fence to keep the junkies from using it as a toilet and needle bin.
