Of course! They need those assets to accrue so the profit can be lent to the Ukes!

  2. If a country starts seizing assets of one dirty corrupt regime, that would put off all the other corrupt regimes from putting their hardly stolen money in said country because they too would fear for their assets from being seized.

In the end, for as much as we like to brand ourselves as paragons of fairness, justice and equity, we still don’t want to miss out on the sweet sweet stolen money these regimes bring to our economies.

London, and by extension, the UK, survives off foreign, and often dirty, money.

They’ll cleanse themselves of Russian oligarchs but will simultaneously welcome sketchy Turkmen, Azeri, Saudi or Chinese money instead.

The article complains the UK has seized £44B, less than the European central bank’s €260B. That seems like a silly comparison one country isn’t going to seize anywhere near the same amount as the bank for numerous nations.

  5. it’s not a random seizing…. it’s done in accordance with the damage caused by Russia to the Ukraine economy so it’s perfectly legit to compensate such damage with the frozen assets of those who caused such damage…. there’s nothing to discuss about this 🤷‍♂️, Italy 🇮🇹

If one wants Ukraine to succeed, one needs to do something with that corrupt government, I guess.

  7. It can if it wants to. Yes, part of the appeal is to let anyone spend money and be certain that their investment is protected. But the UK can draw a line with Russia, that none can threaten to nuke London, and continue using British services. I think that most, including autocracies, can understand that.
