Good morning! Here’s this week’s reminder that there are things going in the right direction. Have a great Monday! * Despite the energy crisis, coal-fired power plants’ share of German energy production fell by just over 20% last year, and over Easter 15 coal-fired power plants were shut down because they were no longer necessary or economical. * No later than 2021, a research article was published that pointed out that there might be a connection between the use of paracetamol during pregnancy and ADHD, autism and intellectual disabilities, while highlighting the need for more research on the subject. Last week, just that was published: a record-breaking study, where they looked at data from 2.6 million (Swedish) children over a time span of up to 26 years. The conclusion: there is no connection. Pregnant women can therefore nibble Alvedon to their heart’s content just like the rest of us. (Please don’t. I’m here to bring positive news, not medical advice.) (Thanks u/moopey for the tip!) * Food prices fell in March, according to figures from SCB. For the first time in almost three years, the price of food was even cheaper than a year ago. * This week, Nigeria became the first country in the world to launch a new vaccine campaign against meningitis. The country is part of the so-called ‘meningitis belt’ in Africa, where the lion’s share of disease cases occur. Last year, the number of cases of the disease increased by 50%, so the new vaccine, which has been in development for over a decade, is very much needed. You can get meningitis for several reasons, and what makes this vaccine so special is that they protect against five of the most common bacteria in a single dose. Other countries in the belt are expected to start their vaccination campaigns sometime next year. * Most people probably know that there is a shortage of qualified teachers, but over the past five school years, the percentage of qualified teachers has increased every year. Among other things, the Lärarlyftet is given as a reason, which is a program that allows teachers to broaden their qualifications. These posts have got their own website! It’s u/amteapotsometimes made it. We’re having some trouble writing the link directly in the post, but I’ll put it in a comment below. If you yourself have come across any positive news, please write it in a comment or send a PM, and I can include it in next week’s post **Sources** * [Kolkraftverk](https://www.power-technology.com/news/germany-shuts-15-coal-fired-power-plants/?cf-view)
