As a Turk living in Germany, I’m just preferring Lahmacun Döner because the lavash bread can sometimes be very thin and cause my dürüm to fall apart.

  3. Lahmacun in Germany is pretty bad tbh. I rarely saw someone baking it for real there. What they do usually is to get those prebaked Lahmacuns with almost no actual minced meat over, and toast them using a toaster – yeah, I am not kidding.

  4. Hardest part of living in western europe, seeing your cuisine be reduced to greasy slop for drunk people.

Most lahmacun in Europe is cooked very thickly. The original lahmacun is much thinner. It contains lemon juice, not sauce, and sure, is just with salad.

  6. Döner…. wrapped in Lahmacun…? You are not referring to lavaş as lahmacun right?

I can’t even comprehend what salad is doing in a döner? The whole idea of döner is the taste of grilled best quality meat. You enhance the taste with onion rings and salt. You can’t put anything else in it.

  8. I’m from Germany and it’s the most expensive form of a “German Döner Kebab Style in Germany. Lahmacun with Doner Meat > Dürüm > Döner Kebab. And I have to admit. It’s good.

I tried Food in Turkey as well. It’s different. More about quality on the Bread, Meat or lahmacun. Traditional and tasty. The versions from Germany are more fast food. Like Turkish Kebab is Napoleon Italian Pizza and German Doner is more like American Fatty Pizza.

Many countries in Western Europetried to copy Berlin Style Döner, but weren’t successful. In Italy I nearly puked once. A shame. Best German Style Kebab is made in Germany with Turkish hands. That’s the combination.
