Crazy to think that over the Acropolis’ 2400+ life, it’s seen all manner of invaders come and go. The Persians (with the help of the Spartans), the Gauls, Romans, Slavs, Scythians, the Goths, Venetians, the Ottomans, the Byzantines, the Nazis..
And yet at end of it all, Greece and its beautiful landmarks still exists but these crumbled empires and faded peoples do not. It’s a bittersweet thought.
